City Council Meeting–July 5th at 7:30pm
Good Evening and Happy 4th of July Eve,
Today I met one of my two MCPS RISE students. The RISE program gives MCPS students a chance to shadow professionals and hopefully work on a project or two. They will be joining me in the parade tomorrow and for my open office hours.
This week’s City Council Meeting:
VOTING SESSION
1. Single Reading Ordinance Approving Use of CDBG Funds for the Domer Avenue Sidewalk Project (PDF)
We will be voting on the use of CDBG Funds for the Domer Avenue Sidewalk Project. It is important to note that this isn’t an ordinance about whether to do the project or not; the project has already been through the petition process and is in the construction stage. At this point we are voting on where the funding for the project will come from.
PRESENTATION/WORK SESSION
2. Takoma Park Recreation Center Redevelopment Update (PDF)
A Request for Proposal was released in October 2022. We had two respondents. At this time, the City Staff does not recommend signing on with either developer but to further develop both proposals and continue to consider what a public-private partnership with one of the two developers might look like.
3. American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Programs and Budget (PDF)
The ARPA Manager, Andrew Bolduc, will be updating us on the status of ARPA spending. These funds are not only required to be spent in specific ways, but also have a time limit within which we must spend them.
