ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Shana

WHERE I COME FROM

Shana Fulcher is a community builder. She has served as the Service Unit Manager for the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Girl Scouts since 2017 and been a Girl Scout leader since 2013, adding a second troop in 2014. Shana serves as an Adult Educator, teaching other leaders how to lead slingshotting, tomahawk throwing, archery, and certifying other volunteers have the necessary skills to take their scouts camping. She serves as a co-director at Camp Tuckerman and Camp Brighton Woods.  Shana loves empowering youth to take charge of activities where they are able to experience adventure and accomplishment. 

EXPERIENCED COMMUNITY LEADER

In the past, Shana has also volunteered for the PTA and with Let’s Play America. She currently serves as the vice-chair to the Takoma Park Recreation and Community Engagement Committee.  

 

Shana has been nominated for an Azalea Award many times. She is the recipient of the Girl Scouts of the USA Appreciation Pin, Nation's Capital Pin, Girl Scouts of the Nation's Capital Sustained Service Pin, and the Girl Scouts of the USA Thanks Badge. 

 

Before becoming a full time stay at home mom, Shana worked in Disaster Relief at FEMA. She received a BA from the Department of Government and Politics and a BS from the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Maryland College Park. She also attended Montgomery College Takoma Park and Rockville Campuses, where she was greatly inspired by political science courses she took. A lifetime Maryland resident, she attended Montgomery County Public Schools, which her single mother worked hard to move their family into, utilizing the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit program offered by Montgomery County
