Good Afternoon Ward 1,
I hope you had a great weekend. I attended the Montgomery County Older Girl Scout’s end of the year recognition where I was joined by Montgomery County Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles and Maryland State Delegate Sarah Wolek. I was touched that these wonderful female leaders attended our meaningful ceremony for teen Girl Scouts who have completed their Silver, Silver Trefoil, & Gold Awards. I was honored to have been the keynote speaker.
Two dates I hope you will join me for:
Takoma Park Police Department Ward One Community Meeting-June 11th from 7pm-9pm Azalea Room, Takoma Park Community Center on Maple Avenue
I have requested a meeting with Chief DeVaul and TPPD to discuss any concerns Ward 1 residents have about our community’s safety and police. I requested this meeting not due to any particular incident or trend in Ward 1 or Takoma Park. We continue to experience lower levels of crime compared to areas around us. I want to keep dialogue open between residents & police, and to ensure that all are well informed. If you aren’t able to attend, please send me your questions.
Ward 1 Tie Dye Party-June 30th from 12pm-4pm 7102 Maple Avenue
Come create a tie dye to wear this summer, perhaps on the Fourth of July? I will provide dye and have volunteers to help. You will need to bring an article of clothing to dye. If you’re a pro and would like to help, please let me know.

Work Session / Possible Voting Session
3. Resolution Authorizing Temporary Closure of Erie Avenue in Support of the 2024 Flower Avenue Together Block Party (PDF) (revised 5/20)
I am excited about the 2024 Flower Avenue Together Block Party on June 1st. Ward 5 business owner Amber Flynn has been leading the planning of this event and is joined by many other Ward 5 residents, including Councilmember Honzak, in making this celebration happen. I will be in attendance and support their request for the closure of Erie to make space for this event.
