COUNCIL VOTE TO CONVENE IN CLOSED SESSION

The topic will be NDC and the Takoma Junction Project and the meeting will be closed pursuant to Annotated Code of Maryland, General Provisions Article, §3-305(b)(7) and (8), which permit a public body to meet in closed session to consult with counsel to receive legal advice and discuss pending or potential litigation with staff, consultants, or other individuals.

I know many of you will join in on Walk & Roll to School Day next Wednesday. I’ll be getting my sons to their schools that day. The City has hired a new employed to work on Safe Routes to School, Kaysi Webley, who I hope everyone had a chance to meet there.

1. Presentation of the Initial Findings of Montgomery Planning’s Segregation Mapping Project

I appreciate the work that Montgomery County is doing to map restrictive covenants and to show how homeownership repression as a tool to oppress the Black community. I’m looking forward to hearing more about their next steps with their findings.

2. Single Reading Ordinance Approving Procurements (Renewal of the Police Department Contract with Axon Enterprises for Fleet Cameras)

I will vote in favor of renewing our contract with Axon. It is important that we use technology to help monitor and understand the interactions with our police and our community.
